Went to treat what I thought was just ants in the backyard but turns out it was a massive wasp nest under the deck. Guy damn near got me with his spray and I bailed quick, heart pounding. Luckily my buddy with the Orkin setup came over and handled it for $450, taught me to always probe first next time.

Homeowners who DIY this crap and leave nests everywhere are the WORST, makes our jobs a minefield.

Yeah, and check the wind direction before spraying - don't want it in your face.

Probe with a stick first, never your hand. Learned that the hard way.

This. And have epinephrine handy if you're allergic.

Damn, that sucks. Wasps don't mess around.

PEST companies charging $450 for a nest zap? Highway robbery, we all know it.

But they got the gear and certs, can't blame em entirely.

Wasp nests in decks are sneaky, always look from below too.

Use a shop vac with soapy water for nests, pulls em right in without the chase.

Good tip, but for big ones call in the pros anyway.

Tried that once, wasps flew back out madder. Nope.

Watched a Roger Wakefield video on wasp control, he swears by dusk treatments when they're less active.

Probe and PPE, basics but people skip em and pay later.

Dust with Delta Dust for long-term kill, works wonders on wasps.

Bait stations around the perimeter prevent most nests from forming.

Smoke em out first with a fogger, then spray.

Just closed a $10k commercial contract off a bad wasp job referral, turned it around.
