How do you handle lazy techs during termite season?

I've got a small pest crew and we're slammed with termite inspections right now, but one of my guys keeps cutting corners on the bait station installs, like skipping the full perimeter check with the Termidor SC. Been in the Chicago area my whole career, and you know how the old basements here make termites sneaky bastards. I'm thinking of putting him on probation, but not sure if that's too harsh or if I should just retrain him on the Sentricon system first. Anyone got tips on managing employees without killing morale? Saw a thread on r/pestcontrol about this last month with some good advice, but wanted local takes. Also, guy in Pest Control Professionals group swore by weekly check-ins to keep them motivated.

Man, same boat here, nothing worse than a tech half-assing a termite job and coming back for callbacks.

Yeah, callbacks eat your profit. I had to fire one last year after he botched three in a row.

Firing sucks but it's necessary. Retrained mine once and he still slacked, so yeah, out the door.

Don't train, just fire and hire better. Lazy techs drag the whole crew down.

I feel you, termite season turns everyone into zombies if you're not on top of it. Lost a good client once cuz of a sloppy bait job.

Set clear KPIs like number of perimeter checks per job and bonus for zero callbacks. Works wonders without the drama.

Put him on the roach spray runs instead, instant motivation or he quits lol.
