Had a close call last week on a termite job, set up a $250 Termidor bait station in this old crawlspace and forgot to check the perimeter for live scouts. One of those big winged bastards came flying right at my face while I was crouched down, damn near stung me in the eye before I swatted it away. Now I'm double-checking every setup, even if it adds 15 minutes to the job.

glad you swatted that sucker away before it got you, man. next time, tape a small led headlamp to your helmet for better visibility in those tight crawlspaces, cuts down on surprises like that. i've started spraying a quick perimeter with bifenthrin before bait setup, takes about 5 minutes and keeps the scouts at bay without messing up the termidor. also, always wear those clear safety goggles even if it's just a quick peek, saved my eyes from dust and worse last month. check your stations every 30 days religiously too, or you'll end up with a full infestation on your hands. makes the job safer and clients happier in the long run.

those damn winged termites are the WORST, always buzzing right when you're in the tightest spots and cant see shit, makes me wanna burn the whole crawlspace down every time.

That's the kind of crap that keeps you up at night, man. I had a similar screwup with a scorpion trap in a garage last month and it bit my hand before I even saw it.

Felt that. Always wear the full gear now, even if the client bitches about the time it takes. Better safe than sidelined for weeks.
