Up here in north jersey, I was rushing a whole house repipe on an old colonial, quoting the job at $8500 using Uponor PEX-A because the walls are thin and expansion fittings save headaches. Watched this Got2Learn video on the ultimate plumbing mistakes after, damn near did half of em myself last week - like not properly supporting the runs and almost crimping a fitting wrong which could've leaked everywhere. PSA to all you guys: double check your expansion rings and use a proper tool, not some cheap harbor freight knockoff. Saved my ass on that $8.5k job, but it was too close. Someone in Plumbers United was ranting about a similar screwup costing them a callback fee. Seen this kinda thing blow up on r/Plumbing too.

Always torque those crimps to spec, saves you from leaks later.

IME, PEX-B is easier for newbies but expansion is king for cold climates.

SharkBites all the way, no tools needed.

Corporate inspectors hate em too, cite code every time.

My last job, homeowner tried to 'fix' a drip with tape, flooded the basement.
Solid advice on the supports, gonna share with my crew.

those damn PEX mistakes in that vid had me seeing red, just like the crap installs i keep cleaning up from hack apprentices. if inspectors in north jersey weren't so picky, half these jobs wouldn't be such a nightmare.
M

hack apprentices got me using more sharkbites than crimps these days, just to outsmart their leaks before the inspector even shows up. north jersey picky? tell me about it, had one job where the whole line looked like a drunk spiderweb... still passed lol.

goddamn near misses like that are why i HATE cutting corners on PEX jobs, some idiot inspector or cheap-ass client always turns it into a clusterfuck.
