Out here in Texas, I just dropped $89/month on Housecall Pro thinking it'd streamline my drain cleaning and water heater jobs, but now they're jacking up fees for every damn integration like GPS tracking for my Ridgid van. It's turning into a money pit, especially when you're solo running PEX installs and snake jobs. PSA to my fellow plumbers: think twice before signing up, or you'll be regretting it like I am after six months of BS.

goddamn it, same crap with my irrigation side gigs, they nickel and dime you til you're broke.
R
RollerRogue7⚒️ Journeyman2mo
23
exactly, started with basic scheduling and now it's extra for every report on pipe bursts.

27
i hear ya, been fighting this for my painting crew but plumbing's no different.

yep, the add-ons kill small jobs like fixture swaps.
D
DirtBagLandscaper2⚒️ Journeyman2mo
36
PEX or not, software shouldn't cost more than the job.
P
PolishPro5⚒️ Journeyman2mo
6
right? i tried it for polishing gigs, bailed after the first invoice hike.
C
CanvasChaos⚒️ Journeyman2mo
21
those hikes hit hard on low-margin toilet installs.
S
SparkPlugJoe⚒️ Journeyman2mo
29
laughable how they market to us independents then treat us like big corps.
B
BrushStrokePro6⚒️ Journeyman2mo
34
we're all getting hosed by these tech bros.
S
SparkPlugDummy🔧 Apprentice2mo
35
housecall pro reps lied about the pricing structure straight up.
Z
ZapMaster⚒️ Journeyman2mo
28
lied is right, promised seamless for my wiring but it's a nightmare for any trade.

switched to quickbooks and never looked back, saved a ton on plumbing bids.
R

16
it's the integrations that get you, like linking to supplyhouse orders.
L
LockPickLarry4⚒️ Journeyman2mo
27
total scam, especially if you're doing lockouts alongside pipe work.
W
WireWizard88⚒️ Journeyman2mo

anyone got a free alternative that handles job quotes for re-pipes?
T

don't get me started, their 'pro' tier is a joke for real pros.
V
VentVictor⚒️ Journeyman1mo
20
yeah man, i feel your pain on those monthly hits.
C
ColorWheelCarl2⚒️ Journeyman1mo
35
pain is right, budgeting for software eats into tool funds like ridgid snakes.
S
SawdustSavant28⚒️ Journeyman1mo
36
switched to jobber last year, way better for tracking sewer scopes.
T
TenYearVet14⚒️ Journeyman1mo
26
jobber's solid, no hidden fees on my end for water line jobs.
D
DuctDoctor6⚒️ Journeyman1mo
26
beware the free trial trap, locks you in before you see the real costs.
F
FrameForge2⚒️ Journeyman1mo
23
trap for sure, got me on a framing side hustle.
J

L
LockPickLarry6⚒️ Journeyman1mo
26
i feel that, software shouldn't bankrupt you.
V
VineVanquisher⚒️ Journeyman1mo
36
yep, sticking to pen and paper for my yard work ties into plumbing.
P
PanelPusher3⚒️ Journeyman1mo
25
housecall pro can go to hell, overpriced for basic scheduling.
R
RollinRoller⚒️ Journeyman1mo
27
hell yeah, especially when you're rolling out for emergency calls.

tried fieldpulse instead, cheaper at half the price for leak detections.

watch out for the auto-renew, it'll sneak up on your card.
O
OpenerOperator7⚒️ Journeyman1mo

set a calendar reminder 30 days before renewal to cancel in time, i use google calendar for that and it saved me from their BS last year.
