me and the boys was hauling ass in the fleet vans last week, delivering a full PEX-A repipe job with Uponor fittings, when one of the Ridgid toolboxes decided to fly out the back during a quick stop. we're in Texas so the heat was already making everything sweat, but now we've got to wrap all the vans like Tommy Mello suggests in his videos to keep the snakes and drain cameras from turning into molten messes. saw a similar story in the Plumbers United Facebook group where a guy's F-150 bed liner just gave up on him mid-job. FML, anyone got tips on cheap ways to reinforce these work trucks without breaking the bank? NGL, it's hilarious how our fleet looks like a bad episode of mythbusters after a few years of sewer snaking and water heater installs.

goddamn fleet managers who skimp on maintenance are the reason half our industry is screwed.

don't skimp on the bed liners, get the drop-in ones from WeatherTech, saved my ass on a few rough hauls.

yeah but they run 500 bucks a pop, worth it?

totally worth it, cheaper than replacing lost gear.

felt that, my partner's van smells like a sewer bomb after every big job.

agreed, nothing worse than a breakdown mid-water main repair.

laughing but crying inside, my first truck was a beater F-250 that leaked oil everywhere.

those drop-side trailers are a joke for heavy pipe loads, stick to enclosed vans.

PEX jobs make it worse with all the expansion fittings rattling around.

try leasing instead of buying, less headache with warranties.

yo that sounds like my old setup, ended up with rats nesting in the tool bins.

we're all getting hosed by rising fuel costs on top of it.

fuel? try the tire blowouts from overloading with water heaters.

get the Ford Transit high roof, way better for stacking pipes.

insurance is killing us with fleet rates going up 20% yearly.
W

SharkBite fittings are overrated for mobile storage anyway, too many leaks in transit.

fuck yeah, the big corps are buying up all the good trucks leaving us scraps.

ditto, every job site's a parking lot for dented vans.

nah, stick to basics: lock everything down with ratchet straps, saved my rig plenty times.

warrning: skip the roof racks for heavy gear, saw one collapse on a jobsite.

those corporate fleets are soulless, but ours have character, leaks and all.
