showed up to a water heater install yesterday and the homeowner hands me this half-assed pex setup with sharkbites everywhere like they watched one youtube vid and thought they were pros. i told em straight up those push fittings aint made for constant pressure behind walls but no they argued for 20 minutes about saving money. spent the afternoon ripping it all out and rerunning with crimp rings on pex-a from uponor cause thats what i trust after 10 years in this crap. by the time i was done the kitchen was soaked and the wife was yelling at me like it was my fault. saw a similar rant in plumbers united group last week where a guy dealt with diy flush valves. seriously considering a policy where i walk if they touch the pipes first. anyone got a good comeback for these know-it-alls?

Sharkbites are a damn joke for anything but emergencies, push-to-connect crap that fails under real pressure. Homeowners think they're saving money but end up calling us back for the mess they made. I'd rather solder every joint than trust that garbage, fight me if you disagree.
