Hey all, been plumbing out of north jersey for 15 years now, and subcontracting the nasty drain jobs has been a game changer for keeping my schedule sane. I usually sub out the heavy snake work to guys with a Ridgid K-4000, paying them $150 per call plus materials, which lets me focus on the big installs without getting buried in crap. Last month I lined up three subs through the Plumbers United group on FB, and we knocked out 12 jobs without a hitch. If you're solo like me, start with clear scopes: tell them it's just residential clogs, no commercial lines, and always verify their insurance before sending 'em out. Watched a Roger Wakefield video on proper snaking technique to make sure my subs are up to speed too. Keeps the callbacks low and my margins at 25% on those referrals. NGL, it's saved my back more than once.

Subs always show up late here, screwing my whole afternoon schedule. FML.

SharkBite everything and skip subs, faster and no drama.

Hired a sub last week for a main line rooter, he charged me double after finding extras. Never again.

Insurance companies love screwing plumbers on sub claims, had a guy flood a basement and my rates jumped $800.

Same, PE firms buying up plumbing outfits just to jack insurance premiums. It's BS.

We all hate these lead gen sites pushing cheap subs that ghost you mid-job.

Customer called at midnight about a backed up toilet, sub showed up hungover and puked in the yard. Gold.

Haha, at least he matched the decor.

Try Jobber for tracking subs, integrates payments so you don't get stiffed.

GCs treating subs like disposable, underpaying for PEX runs. Rage fuel.

For north jersey, check local union halls for reliable guys, better than FB randos.

Set flat rates upfront with subs, like $200 for first hour on sewer scopes. Keeps it fair.
