Had this newbie homeowner call me out for a mystery clog, so I run my Ridgid SeeSnake through the line and find a tree root invasion in the main stack. I quote him $800 for the camera rental and my time, and the guy's acting like I just robbed his grandma, demanding a 'free' redo because he 'didn't know it cost that much'. Laughable, right? I've been at this 8 years and still get these wide-eyed reactions.

Explain the value upfront with a flat rate diagnostic fee, saves the drama.
