Insurance premiums spiked after one bad water heater install

Just got hit with a $3200 annual premium increase on my policy because of a liability claim from a Rheem water heater job that went sideways last year. The customer's lawyer tried to pin the whole flood on my install, even though it was their crappy shutoff valve. Now every quote I do, I'm factoring in these BS insurance hikes that eat into my margins on residential repipes.

yeah, ended up settling out of court for half that. insurance companies are the real crooks here.

don't skimp on documenting everything before and after. had a near miss on a PEX job where the homeowner tried to sue, but my photos saved my ass.

same boat, bro. my rates jumped 40% after a leaky fitting claim. feels like we're paying for every hack out there.

exactly, these premiums are robbery. every plumber pays for the idiots using push-fit junk without backups.

switch to a carrier that specializes in trades. i use one that caps liability hikes at 15% for first claims, saved me thousands on my Ridgid tool coverage too.

fuck these insurers, they treat us like we're the problem on every job. saw a post in Plumbers United where a guy got dropped entirely after one slip-up.

SharkBites aren't the devil, but yeah, blame them for every leak and watch premiums soar. i've used 'em on 20 jobs with zero issues, fight me.
