had a call yesterday for a slow leak in this old ranch house bathroom, turns out the bowl's got a hairline crack running from the base up to the rim. water's seeping out slow but steady, already stained the subfloor a bit. owner says its been like that for weeks, but now the floor's warping under the tile. pushing to replace it before it floods the whole damn space, but theyre balking at the cost. anyone else dealt with these stubborn clients on urgency?

tell em if it blows, the water damage bill triples the toilet swap.

yeah, seen that warp into full rot quick. push for pvc flange too while youre at it.

pvc flange? nah, stick with cast iron if the stack's original.

waited on one like that once, client called back in panic when it split wide open overnight. cost em a fortune in demo.

cracks like that usually mean the porcelain's fatigued from years of clogs or bad installs.

just did a similar one, swapped for a low-flow model and saved em on water bills long term. they thanked me later.

dont forget to check the wax ring too, cracks often hide bigger seal fails. replaced one yesterday and found the whole thing rotted through. clients never notice till its bad. yeah, but if you demo without checking, youre back next week anyway.

urgency? hell, if its not spraying everywhere, theyll drag feet forever.
