had a call yesterday for a burst pipe in this old ranch house, turned out to be a tiny pinhole in the 3/4 copper line under the sink. water spraying everywhere while the family was eating. i wrapped it quick with self-fusing silicone tape and shut off the main, but that aint holding forever. anyone got a better temp hack before i solder it proper tomorrow? house is from the 70s, prob acid in the water eating through.

rubber patch and hose clamp works in a pinch, holds pressure fine for a day.

yeah but that tape you used? silicone's crap if there's any vibration.

not my trade but i've seen plumbers use epoxy putty on those holes. sticks like hell to copper.

duct tape? kidding, but seriously, for real temp, wrap with teflon tape first then clamp.

teflon aint waterproof enough alone. add a layer of that blue painters tape over for seal.

tried painters tape once, peeled right off. stick to rubber.

just shut the water off and tell em no sinks til you return. easy.

epoxy putty is your best bet for temp. mix it up, smear over the hole, cures in an hour. i've used it on jobs where i couldn't solder right away, like if gas was nearby or no torch. holds 60 psi no problem. but yeah, always plan to replace that section of pipe eventually, copper don't last forever with bad water chem. test your clients ph levels next time. disagree with the clamp guys, that slips on small holes.

i go with jb weld on pinholes. sets fast and you can drink from it after.

jb weld too brittle for pipes, cracks under pressure.
