me and the crew were up on this 12/12 pitch in the greater Atlanta area, stripping old asphalt shingles off a two-story ranch when the wind kicked up outta nowhere. one of my guys, second year on the job, lost his footing near the ridge and started sliding toward the edge - no harness cuz we were just demoing and thought it was quick. grabbed his harness line at the last second, but damn that gutter stopped him just inches from a 20 foot drop. been doing this 18 years and still get that pit in my stomach; makes you wanna double-check every knot and clip from now on. saw a post on r/Roofing last week about similar BS, and someone in The Contractor Fight group mentioned OSHA's been cracking down on fall protection. FML, but everyone's ok and we're adding more tethers tomorrow. gonna review our safety protocols tonight over beers.

homeowners never get how close these calls are, they just want the roof done fast.

how steep was it really? 12/12 is brutal without scaffolding.
