Man, I stumbled on this video where some roofing influencer breaks down why suppliers jack up underlayment prices and how they're screwing us on commercial jobs. It's called something like 'Why Suppliers Hate Roofing Insights Underlayment' and it got me thinking about my own bids. Been quoting flat roofs with CertainTeed underlayment for strip malls, but clients keep ghosting after the initial call. I'm in the greater Atlanta area and the competition is fierce with all these big outfits underbidding on TPO installs. Saw a similar thread on r/Roofing about underlayment markups last week, and now I'm second-guessing my margins. Anyone else dealing with this crap when trying to break into commercial?

Try bundling the underlayment into your quote as a value-add, like I do with synthetic options from GAF. It'll differentiate you from the lowballers and justify higher rates on those commercial flat roofs.

Suppliers are the worst, always pushing premium crap we don't need for basic commercial work. I got burned on a bid last month in a similar market, lost $5k because I didn't pad for their BS pricing hikes. Frustrating as hell when you're just trying to get your foot in the door.
