had a close call last week on a 8/12 pitch tear-off, one of the guys almost slipped when we were nailing down the new IKO Cambridge shingles. the harness was clipped but the rope was tangled in some ridge vent debris, coulda been bad if he didnt catch himself on a ladder. always double-check your setup, especially after lunch when everyones a bit slower. ive seen too many guys get hurt from small oversights like that. anyone got tips for better tethering on multi-day roof projects? we use Klein tools harnesses but maybe theres something better out there. oh and saw a similar story in the Roofing Pros facebook group, guy lost a full crew to a slip-up.

Switch to self-retracting lifelines, they pull tight and reduce swing if you do slip.

Train the crew on 100% tie-off at all times, no exceptions even for quick grabs.

we do that but enforcement slips on long days, any drills you recommend?

What brand harnesses are you running? Kleins are solid but check the D-rings for wear.

yeah they hold up but the adjusters get sticky after rain, any alternatives?

Clear the deck fully before starting the next phase, debris is a killer.

How steep was it really? 8/12 is no joke without chicken ladders.

Felt that, my knees still remember a slip from 5 years back.

Insurance companies love hearing about these - hikes your premiums if it gets out.

We all hate these clients who rush the job and cut corners on safety.

exactly, this one wanted it done in two days flat, no regard for the pitch.

Never skimp on fall protection training, one bad fall and youre done.

Use roof brackets for safer walking paths on steep stuff.

Ugh, those moments suck. Glad your team made it through without injury.
