Why I fired my whole roofing crew over scheduling screwups

After 10 years running crews in the PNW, I finally had to let go of my four-man team last month because they kept double-booking shingle jobs and leaving tarps half-secured during rain delays. We were using Acculynx for scheduling but these idiots ignored the app and just winged it, costing me $6k in callbacks for a GAF Timberline install that leaked from poor overlap. Rain is constant out here so you gotta plan tight, but they treated it like a vacation. Someone in The Contractor Fight Facebook group mentioned the same issue with lazy helpers. Now I'm solo until I find reliable guys who actually check the forecast before loading the Milwaukee nailers. Hiring's a nightmare, but better than losing more money.

Fired two last week for the same crap, they showed up late to a ridge vent job and the whole thing had to be redone. Brutal.

Look into background checks through Indeed, helped me weed out the flakes before they tanked my CertainTeed schedules.

Crews these days are worthless, my last one botched a valley flashing schedule and I ate $3k in fixes. Done with 'em.

All these unreliable crews are killing small ops like ours, big corps scoop up the good ones and leave us with the trash. Rage-inducing.
