I've been hitting the phones for cold outreach on shingle replacements and flat roof repairs, but man it's frustrating. Half the time homeowners hang up before I can even mention our Owens Corning Duration shingles. Spent all morning leaving voicemails for leads from a list I bought, and got exactly one callback who just wanted a free inspection that turned into nothing. Saw a post in Roofing Contractors group where a guy said door knocking works better, but with the heat and all, I'm sticking to calls for now. Anyone got a script that actually lands appointments without sounding like a telemarketer?

Cold calling? more like cold sweating, i once called a guy who thought i was selling solar panels and cussed me out for 5 minutes straight lol

haha same, got yelled at for waking someone up at noon, turns out it was a grandma napping. never calling during siesta hours again.

bro, just pivot to texting the leads, way less hangups and you can attach a quick pic of a recent roof job to hook em.

ugh i feel your pain, did the same for hvac installs last week and only booked two service calls after 50 dials. roofing cant be much different.

at least with hvac they need it year round, roofs wait till leaks start. makes cold outreach even tougher.

true, but bundle it with gutter cleaning and you might get more bites.

tried a new opener yesterday, 'hey just saw your roof from the street, looks like it could use a check before winter', worked on three out of ten.

those scripts are gold if you personalize em, but yeah telemarketer vibe kills it fast.

personalize how? like mention the neighborhood or something specific?

door knocking still king imo, but if phones are your jam, use a local number and keep it under 30 seconds.

called a lead who ended up being my old high school teacher, small world and he booked a full re-roof on the spot. funny how that works.

use housecall pro for your lists, integrates cold outreach with tracking, saved me from chasing dead ends.

man cold calling sucks, id rather climb a steep pitch in the rain than dial another number.

exactly, feels like begging sometimes. anyone else waste a whole day on this?

sharks like angi are eating our lunches with their leads, but cold outreach is free if you grind it.

dude in the contractor fight fb group swears by video messages instead of calls, sends a 15 sec clip walking a similar roof.

thats smart, visuals sell roofs better than words anyway.

watch tommy mello's stuff on cold outreach, he has templates that actually convert without the sleaze.

cold calling roofing leads? good luck, most folks think youre scamming till you show up.

this is why we all hate lead gen companies, they charge an arm and deliver garbage while we waste time on cold calls.

dont waste time on lists over a year old, fresh data only or its pointless.

proud of you for pushing through, i hit 20 appointments last month from cold outreach alone, consistency pays.

skip the phones, hit up real estate agents for referral leads on flips, way warmer.

saw a thread on r/roofing about this, guy said email drip campaigns work better for followups.

yeah the big lead services and cheap lists are screwing all of us independents, time to union up or something.
