Up here in zone 6 Minnesota, I run a roofing crew with a fleet of Ford F-550s for hauling bundles of GAF Timberline shingles up ladders and to jobsites. Last winter, I cheaped out on a $500 synthetic oil change and fluid flush, figured the truck could handle the cold starts hauling 20 squares across icy backroads. Ended up with a blown tranny on a hail damage job in Duluth, towing fees and repairs hit $8,200 at the dealer. Now I'm religious about those $1k seasonal services, especially with salt eating at the undercarriage. Saw a similar rant in The Contractor Fight Facebook group about their fleet breakdowns. PSA: zone 6 roofing means brutal winters, treat those trucks like your paycheck depends on it. Because it does.
