I'm so pissed off trying to grow my roofing business through social media. Been posting time-lapse videos of shingle installs and flat roof repairs on Instagram and LinkedIn for months, thinking it'd hook some commercial clients like strip malls or warehouses. Out here in Arizona the sun beats everything to hell, so I figured showing torch-down mod-bit jobs would stand out. But it's all bots and no real leads, just wasting time I could spend bidding on actual RFPs. Meanwhile, these big PE-backed outfits are scooping up the commercial work with their glossy ads. Anyone else raging about how social media promises the world but delivers jack for roofers chasing bigger accounts? Saw a thread on r/Construction where guys were venting the same BS.

social media's a total scam for commercial roofing, just a circle jerk for likes while the real money's in backroom deals. those PE-backed monsters aren't winning bids with instagram reels, they're greasing palms at chamber meetings and golf courses, leaving us independents chasing digital ghosts. i've dumped hours into linkedin posts about TPO installs in this desert heat, only to get spam from chinese suppliers instead of strip mall owners. screw that noise, i'd rather cold call property managers or hit up the local BOMA chapter than waste another dime on ads. the big boys know social media's for show, not dough, and they're laughing all the way to the bank. OP, you nailed it with the r/Construction vent, same crap everywhere. if you're still tempted, try targeted google ads on commercial keywords, but honestly, networking's where the jobs hide. fight me if you think reels will ever beat a solid handshake.

social media for roofing? more like social medi-scam, had a 'lead' once that turned out to be some kid asking if i could fix his treehouse after a dust devil.

same shit here, bro, i've dumped hours into linkedin posts for commercial gigs and got nothing but spam bots replying. those PE assholes with their fat ad budgets are killing us little guys out here.

steer clear of social media for commercial gigs, its a scam trap where fake job ads suck in roofers like us chasing leads that never materialize.

social media's a total scam for commercial gigs, but screw the PE vultures, real roofers land big strip mall jobs by schmoozing at local chamber meetings instead of chasing likes.

skip the social media grind and hit up local BNI groups or chamber mixers instead - landed a 25k strip mall re-roof last month through a real estate connection there. post your pics on nextdoor too, but only after you've networked face to face with property managers. bots suck, but actual handshakes close deals in arizona.

social media for roofers? it's like trying to nail down a shingle in a hurricane - all flash and no grip, just leaves you with sore thumbs and empty bids.

those PE vultures are ruining it for all of us independents. screw their fake ads, we need real connections not likes.
