Been running a referral program for my asphalt shingle roof repairs up in zone 5 Pennsylvania for the last year, and it's finally clicking after some tweaks. I offer $200 cash or a $500 credit towards their next job for every successful referral that books a $3k+ install with us using Owens Corning Duration shingles. Started with just word-of-mouth from my ladder crew, but now it's bringing in 2-3 solid leads a month without the hassle of cold calls. We track everything in Jobber to make sure we don't miss payouts, and it's boosted our close rate on those jobs to about 75%. Anyone else using something similar for roofing gigs?

wish more of us would ditch those angi scumbags and go back to real referrals like yours, they're screwing everyone with their BS fees.

tried a similar referral setup in my electrical biz using housecall pro for tracking and bumped my leads by 40% just by adding a quick text reminder after every job wrap-up.

dont give out cash referrals without a solid contract or youll end up chasing deadbeats for months like i did last summer.

i switched to acculynx for tracking referrals last year and it cut my admin time in half while making sure payouts go out quick, way better than jobber for roofing jobs.

$200 is chump change, imo you're leaving money on the table when you could be paying $500 straight cash and turn those 2-3 leads into a referral avalanche.

goddamn angi leads cost me $500 a pop for crap referrals while your word of mouth program's actually delivering real jobs without that corporate BS

man, my referrals come from the local bar more than jobber, half the time it's the guy who owes me a beer after i fixed his leaky roof last winter. offered 200 bucks once and the dude spent it on lotto tickets, now he's my unofficial mascot for 'what not to do with referral cash' lol. finally got 2 leads this month without chasing shadows, but i gotta watch 'em closer than a drunk helper on the ladder. you tracking any weird referral stories like that?

try adding a referral card you hand out at job completion, makes it easy for them to pass along without forgetting. we've been using something like that with our gaf certified installs and it bumped our referrals up by about 40% last quarter. track it all in housecall pro if jobber's getting clunky on the mobile end. just keep the incentive simple so folks actually use it.

referrals sound great until the cheapskates start haggling over the $200 gift card incentive like theyre doin you a favor by just tellin their neighbor.

man, referrals are the only thing keeping my head above water too, without em id be chasing every damn lead on angi and getting screwed on lowballs. been tweaking my program for months just like you, started with a flat $100 but nobody bit til i bumped it to $250 for a booked metal roof job. now its pulling in one or two a week, but tracking the payouts is a pain in the ass when folks forget or the job falls through. i use housecall pro for it, but still end up chasing half the credits by hand. feels good when it clicks though, takes the edge off these slow months. wish id set something up sooner, coulda saved myself a ton of headaches.

Hit 10 referrals last quarter alone and added two full re-roofs to the books, best move I made this year.

$200 is generous, but damn if it doesn't work.

Tracking in Jobber saved my ass too, forgot one once and lost a repeat client.

Referral bucks are the way, but I throw in a free gutter clean too. Had a guy refer his whole neighborhood last summer, turned into a $15k week lol.

Same here, started small with $100 gifts and now it's steady work without the sales BS.

goddamn angi leads are the worst, they charge an arm and a leg for crap referrals that ghost you half the time. good on you for sticking with the gift program, saves us all from that sales nightmare. those PE vultures buying up every decent roof company are next, jacking prices and killing the small guy. screw em, we gotta band together on this shit.

those PE assholes are circling like sharks, snatching up every mom and pop roof outfit they can find and turning em into soulless cash machines. angi's just as bad, sucking us dry with their bullshit leads while the big boys laugh all the way to the bank. we small guys need to stick together or we're all screwed.

Feels that, man. Lost a potential $4k shingle swap to a ghost last week.
