Man, I'm about ready to throw in the towel with all this licensing crap for roofing. Just spent a whole afternoon digging through state regs and filling out forms for my GAF certified installer renewal, and now they want another CE class on OSHA safety for fall protection. It's like they think we're all climbing ladders with no clue what a harness is. Watched a video from that Essential Craftsman guy on YouTube explaining the basics, but it doesn't make the paperwork any less of a headache. Meanwhile, my buddy's sub is out there slapping on CertainTeed shingles without half the certs, undercutting everyone. How are you all staying on top of this without losing your mind? FML.
stuck with this licensing grind for 18 years now, and it's made my crew the most trusted roofers in the county, pulling in steady $200k jobs from repeat clients. wouldnt trade the certs for all the quick cash in the world, keeps the BS subs out of my hair.

bro, i renewed my GAF cert last month and the CE class was basically 'dont fall off the damn roof' in 4 hours. now im certified to teach my sub how to clip in without trippin over his own harness 😂

same shit here, all this licensing BS is designed to squeeze out us small guys while the big subs dodge it with their crews. spent half my saturday on renewal forms last week and still feel like im chasing my tail. been there with the undercutters, its infuriating.

set up a quick recurring calendar for those ce renewals so you dont miss em, saved my ass last year with the osha stuff. check out the free online modules from iicrc, they count towards fall protection and cut the hassle in half.
