So I'm up on this old ranch-style roof last week, starting the tear-off with my Milwaukee Sawzall, and wouldn't you know it, we uncover a whole damn colony of pigeons nesting under the asphalt shingles. Birds everywhere, shitting all over the place, my helper slips on the crap and nearly takes a dive off the edge. Had to stop everything, chase 'em out with brooms while the homeowner's yelling from the ground about her 'peaceful birds.' Finally got it cleared but spent an extra hour power-washing the decking. Moral of the story, always check for wildlife before ripping into it.

goddamn homeowners always think their 'peaceful birds' are more important than a safe roof, pisses me off every time.

next time, tape off a 20-foot radius around the roof edges with plastic sheeting before the tear-off, itll keep the pigeon crap from raining down on everyone below.

man i had the same crap happen on a tear-off last month, pigeons shitting everywhere and the homeowner acting like they were her damn pets.

fuckin homeowners thinking pigeons are pets instead of flying rats, always turns a simple tear-off into a biohazard nightmare. we had one last month where the birds crapped so bad we had to redo the whole decking, pissed me off big time.

man i hate those pigeon jobs, last one i did in an old attic the bastards had nested so deep we found eggs and shit everywhere, had to call pest control and eat the $800 bill just to finish the damn roof.

next time slap some bird netting under the tarp before you start the tear-off, saves you that extra cleanup hour.

howd you get the homeowner to chill out about her peaceful birds?

next time tape off a 10-foot perimeter with plastic sheeting before you start the tear-off, keeps the feathers and crap from raining down on everyone. i use 3-mil painters plastic from home depot, rolls out quick and you can reuse it half the time. saved my ass on a similar mess with starlings last month, no slips or homeowner freakouts. just dont forget to vent the area or youll be breathing pigeon dust all day.

goddamn homeowners treating pigeons like sacred cows while we're up there covered in their shit is the WORST. i had one lady last month threaten to call the cops on me for 'harassing' her feathered squatters during a tear-off in her attic. these idiots have no clue the health hazards or the extra time it costs us, but they sure love playing animal whisperer. makes me wanna charge double for any wildlife bullshit from now on.

pigeons are the worst, like feathered squatters who pay rent in guano. had one job where they dive-bombed us from the ridge, turned my crew into a bad action movie. shoulda charged extra for bird wrangling, but the homeowner thought they were 'cute.' next time, im bringing a falcon or somethin 😂

pigeons aint cute, theyre flying rats carrying west nile and turning roofs into biohazards, i tell homeowners ill walk off the job if they dont let me trap em first.

Man, I've had squirrels chew through soffit vents on a shingle job, turned the whole site into a rodent rodeo. Wasted half the day setting traps instead of nailing down underlayment, pissed me off big time.

ugh, had a job last summer where the soffit let in a whole flock of birds, turned into an absolute crap show chasing them off before we could even start.

Haha, sounds like my buddy's story with bats in an attic vent during a metal roof install. He came down covered in guano, looked like a zombie from a bad movie.
